Leadership and Behavior Modification

EAGLE 8 has created a unique tool called the Framework for Behavior Modification. This Framework rests on the assumption that behavior is the sum of all individual actions. These actions are determined principally by personal values. Values in turn are shaped by beliefs which are the product of 3 major factors;   environment, knowledge and experiences.

Environment: The surroundings in which the individual operates. It includes tangible and intangible elements like collective vision, administrative structures, physical layout and all systems designed to control human actions.

Knowledge: This is the body of information, discovered by or revealed to the individual. It tends to reinforce or contradict the signals emitted by the environment.

Experiences: These are events that happen to or are observed by individuals. From these, people deduce patterns and draw conclusions about various caframework of behaviour modificationuse & effect relationships. Experiences reinforce or contradict the messages emitted by knowledge and environment and are critical to determining which knowledge is retained or jettisoned.

As illustrated above, values are shaped by beliefs and in turn shape actions. Behavior is the sum total of all actions. It sums up the rules by which people engage society and receive feedback from their environment, via new knowledge and/or experiences.

This feedback causes adjustments to beliefs, values, actions and behavior in an iterative process until the disconnect no longer provokes adjustments. At this stage, values and beliefs set or stabilize and actions become consistent.
