Change Management For The Public Sector

John F. Kennedy once wrote, “Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.” This statement simply explains that it is pertinent that managers become visionary leaders and should be able to decide on changes and effectively implement them.

The term “Change Management” refers to the task of managing change. The one constant factor that every organization is exposed to is change because it is inevitable. It affects every country, industry, organization, and household in all sizes. Further to this, the determining factor to success depends on how change is managed or implemented towards greater organizational efficiency and increased performance.

The context of the public sector is becomingmore complex especially as government strives to improve andmodernize services hence, the need for a fully responsive public sector. This course aims to identify the roles and functions of leadership in effecting and managing change within the public sector and how these functions can be adequately exercised.
