Making The Most Of Privatization And Public Private Partnerships

The concepts of Privatization and Public-Private Partnership were driven by limitations in public funds to cover investments needs but also by efforts to increase the quality and efficiency of public services. However, as the demand for infrastructure grows and access to resources has become limited, the public sector has increasingly looked to the private sector to provide financial resources, innovation, and technical expertise for the effective management of such projects. PPPs can be quite complex, involving many different participants including government, private sector experts, financiers and customers, each having a different perspective, which is not always fully understood by the other participants.

This programme is designed to provide a better understanding of how to facilitate credible private sector involvement with and participation in the delivery of public goods and services with the construction, implementation, ownership and operation of public facilities.
